Grainger Metal Works Earns Bronze Metal at National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA) Convention

Grainger Metal Works announced today that it was awarded a bronze award in the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA) Ernest Wiemann Top Job Competition at the annual METALfab convention. Grainger won for a 350 linear foot stainless steel serpentine rail with etched glass panels for the Radisson Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC (now the Sheraton at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center).

The award was accepted by Carl Grainger, founder of Grainger Metal Works. “This award is a culmination of our pursuit to create a product that a client can be proud to showcase and I can be proud to call mine,” he says. “It’s gratifying to be recognized for our efforts, but I’m most pleased that this project was well received by the client.”

Open to all NOMMA members, entrants provided a photo and description of their work and entries were displayed in a gallery during the METALfab convention. NOMMA member were given the opportunity to peruse the gallery and vote, and the winners were recognized at a special awards banquet during the last evening of the convention, held in Sacramento, CA.

Using new technology and the latest production machinery, combined with old world techniques, the company produces unique and compelling iron gates, railings, furniture and accessories.

The National Ornamental & Miscellaneous Metals Association was formed in 1958 to serve the ornamental and miscellaneous metals industry. Today the association has more than 1,000 members across the U.S. and in more than one dozen foreign countries. Members produce the full spectrum of ornamental and miscellaneous metalwork, ranging from railings to driveway gates, and from sculpture to light structural steel.

The Chapter Ring Grille was designed as a tribute to Francis Whitaker and was assembled by a team of six blacksmiths at the ABANA conference June 18th – 21st, 1998. The eight rings were selected from many submissions by the various ABANA chapters, and had to meet a standard set of rules governing their size and appearance. The finished work was purchased by Barbara and Tim Kris, of Franklin, NC, at the conference auction.
